Eyebrows - The Ultimate Face Frames

Eyebrows can make or break your face. Seriously. Well that was a tad dramatic but they really do accentuate your face and pull your whole make up look together.

I only started paying attention to mine about a year ago, Id always groomed them but never filled them in or plucked them. I still dont pluck, my eyebrows are pretty well behaved so I dont feel a need to do that. Besides, I'm a bit chicken about the pain of plucking my brows. Should I be?

Anyway I was having a little day dream about eyebrows and thought I'd share some of my favs!

Queen B. I looooooooove the way her brows look thick and even. They are not over plucked or exagerated into that 'surprised' look that I cant stand!

Of course you dont always have to fill in eyebrows. Leaving them simply brushed or gelled into place can add youthfulness to your look in a way that 'made up' brows cannot - as seen in the gorgeous super model Devon Aoki

and the lady who inspired the full brow look seen on countless runways this season, Brooke Shields

And mine, all I do is fill them in with dark brown powder and tidy up with concealer. Let me know if you want me to do a tutorial!

Fashion Crush of the Week: Karla's Closet

I dont think it is possible to put in words how much I adore Karla's style. Yes, I am gushing, its that bad lol. My best friend introduced me to her blog about a year ago and I fell in love immediately and so has every other person I have shown her blog too!

She has that classy, chic, feminine style that I like. I also think its splendid how she restores her thrift finds into styles that fit her shape!

I cant wait to dress like this on my next holiday to Ibiza!

Working the red lip: did I say this girl was after my heart or not?

OOTD: Pretty White Lace Summer Dress

For some reason I woke up today and decided I wanted to be a fairy...
Photobucket

Well since that wasn't likely, I decided to wear my new white dress that I got from Zara for £12.99! I absolutely love it! Its sooo cutesy and girly, which I find very refreshing!

Photobucket

I love the lace detailing all over the dress, I didn't feel the need to accessorize so I only paired it with my oasis pearlesque bracelet

Photobucket
Primark is also doing the damn thing with these cute ballet pumps I got for £5!

Photobucket

Face of the day: I decided I wanted a soft peach/ pink / bronze look

Photobucket

Photobucket

Not sure what to call it but I like it! Although I always feel like something is missing when I dont wear eye liner lol.

I filmed a tutorial of this look but youtube always gives me a weird looking thumbnail since i'm not a proper partner so I don't know if I can be bothered to upload it. Id be happy to if anyone does want to see it, so do let me know if you do!

Products used
Mac matchmaster foundation 8.5
Mac peachtwist blush (as eyeshadow and blush)
Sleek contour kit - I used the highlight as a blush
Mac girl about town lipstick - I dabbed this on very lightly for a pale pink look. My face was bright already so I figured a matte look would be better than a glossy one.
Mascara: Some cheapo from Maybelline, does the job, I think this would look awesome with false lashes for a flirty/seductive look but I was going for a more relaxed vibe so I went au naturel!

I probably need to start plucking my eyebrows. I've never done them in my life and Im too lazy to add one more thing to the beauty regime lol, for now my concealer trick is doing the trick!

Check out my video on this OOTD below. I got to play fairy for a few minutes (in my mind) lol

Back to School OOTD: OMBRE!

I fell in love with this top as soon as I saw it, I loved the graduated colour and the pop of colour in the collar!

Its great because it can be cinched in the waist also if you want more waist definition, but even better the colour...oh the colour is just fab!

I was a greasy mess by the end of the night, but it was worth it!

allisbelle usain

What an amazing night!

So I had no plans to actually party on saturday night, I have been working hard and juggling so many things that I just wanted to lie in. However, my friend and I went for drinks in shoreditch and the buzz everywhere was amazing! Everyone was keen to enjoy the last night the athletes would be in town so Ness and I ran home, quickly got changed and headed to Movida in London's west end.

Movida certainly delivered! I met some incredible people, no groupie lol, and had so much fun! Everyone was there to dance and have fun so that was nice to see.

Nas was there too but I missed out on a picture with him! :-(

Usain bolt though, was incredibly personable! which was nice to see because he'd been giving the impression of cockiness since his success in the games. To be honest, I'd be feeling myself too if I was the fastest woman in the planet! I loved the way he interacted with people in the crowd, he came up behind me and teased me! I had no idea he was behind behind me until everyone started screaming! I thought id ripped my dress or something cringe like that so I was relieved when I turned around that I gave him a MASSIVE hug! :)

Outfit details below:

Herve Leger inspired dress: French connection
Strappy sandals: Topshop
Bracelet: A secret santa present so no idea where it was from

Makeup details:
Foundation: Mac match master foundation 8.5
Lipstick: Ruby woo
Blush: Sleek 3 blush palette
Liner: Maybelline

Thats it! I didn't do much to my face because I didn't have time!

Video of the outfit and party below:

Hope you guys had fun celebrating where ever you are also xxx

Back to School OOTD: Distressed Denim and Gold

This was my go to fashion style at Uni, its very easy to throw on in a rush. I also kept my face simple as I usually never had time for elaborate make up!

I went to Uni up north in England where it is usually quite cold so a jumper or something else to keep warm is often a necessity.

This outfit is somewhat of an Ode to Topshop, my old employer, Most of my clothes are still from there and Its my absolute favourite store! Next to Zara of course

Outfit details:
Gold Crochet Jumper: Oasis
Distressed looking Denim Jeans: Topshop
Leather and Suede Boots: Topshop
Spiked earrings: Topshop
Gold Watch: Vintage
Chain rings: Topshop

How do you guys dress for school? I had girls in my class who would turn up in stilettos looking like full on glamour pusses at 9am. They looked gorgeous! But the above is the best I can do for class at that time!

Check out my video to see the look in 3d!

10 Things to Expect from College / University!

NO Cliche: University was the best time of my life so far! Here is a heads up on what to expect

  1. You will be broke at some point -
unless the bank of mummy and daddy helps you out, which will require some grovelling as in my case lol.
  2. You will make great friends and meet some crazy imbeciles
Each set will bring joy into your life, One makes you happy when they step in, the other when they step out!
  3. Distractions will be everywhere
Toga parties, daytime tv... who knew that cash in the attic could be so fascinating?
  4. There is a really really high chance you will get fat
At least 2 dress sizes - if you are not careful!
  5. Relationships
your high school relationship might end, or it might be strengthened, either way long distance relationships are hard! Think carefully if the person you are investing all the time and effort in is worth it... if so, cool beans!
  6. You will be miserable.. sometimes
Even if it is only for a few moments when you suddenly realise that you miss home! Also when the fire alarm goes off at 3am in the morning and you have a 9am class.
  7. Roomates
    see number 2
  8. There will be lots of work to do and no one to force you to do it!
YAY! for the organised folks, NAY to everyone else because it takes herculean effort to maintain your focus at uni/college. I certainly struggled at first, then it became second nature :-)
  9. Word spreads fast!
Think twice and be easy on the alcohol. You can have a great time at university and graduate with your dignity intact! Uni in England lasts 2 - 3 years, but you don't want to be remembered as 'The girl who... " for the rest of your life
  10. Help is everywhere!
Seek the support of your friends, family and counsellors if things get a bit difficult!

I go into much more detail on my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/allisbelle

Enjoy

I literally there this outfit on as I ran some good daughter errands on Sunday. My favourite thing about structured blazers is that they can glam up any outfit. I think it adds a little something to my otherwise uber casual outfit of a run dmc t-shirt and old shorts!

Outfit details:

Blazer: Zara sale!
T shirt: Portobello Market
Shorts: New Look
Spiked/ Studded leather slippers: Topshop
Spiked ring: Topshop
Bag: Zara

AFRICA FASHION WEEK 2012 | LONDON

So my friend Lou invited me to this event a couple of weeks ago and I nonchalantly said yes. I love love love fashion and adore most things Africa inspired but Ive been to enough fashion design events to know that sometimes they aren't properly run, the designs are mediocre at best, and a waste of my time in summary!

I was pleasantly surprised today.

Most of the designers I saw were very talented, you could tell they knew their craft and a lot of blood, sweat and tears had gone into each outfit. I saw some designs that made a lot of people gasp in the 'what-planet-are-you-from-passing-this-off-as-COUTURE!' type of way but hey, to be expected right?

Now for some of my favourites!

(all images are my copyright - please do not copy without reference - I am a lawyer lol!)

I was enthralled with the alice in wonderland/mad hatter vibe that I got from The House of Adjeiwaah
Photobucket

Trish O Couture got me with how wearable almost every piece was!

Photobucket

Particularly loved this piece

Photobucket

Adaora's- love the name of the line! I also liked that she incorporated non 'traditional' fabrics like velvet into her designs. It gave a nice gothic touch in my view.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Lyze hats
Photobucket

This was my favourite - perfect for Ascot!
Photobucket

really liked this one too
Photobucket

Ozora gave me elegance! I would love to wear the red dress highlighted but...boobies! lol

DA VIVA

Photobucket
Yutee

Not too sure about this one to be honest
Photobucket

Loved the calypso feel of this!

Afro Fanatic was...interesting - watch the video to get some giggles from one of the models!
